Well Pharmacy data breach – December 2018

On the 11th December 2018 a document containing the personal data of 24,099 Well Pharmacy employees was sent to an undisclosed number of locum doctors. Despite the email being immediately recalled, information including names, addresses, phone numbers and email addresses was shared which comprises a significant breach of personal data.

Chris Ellet, senior information risk owner for Well Pharmacy stated that the Information Commissioner’s Office was informed as soon as the breach was discovered and that Well Pharmacy are making changes to their processes ‘to ensure that a similar incident does not occur again in the future.’ However this does not change the fact that thousands of pharmacists’ personal data has been exposed in a negligent fashion.

If your information has been exposed by this data breach then you could be due compensation from Well Pharmacy. Get in touch with us today to find out how we can help you claim for compensation, we work on a No-Win No-Fee basis and are experienced in the field of data protection breaches.
